Ellen DeGeneres has recently become the new Cover Girl! This is in honor of Cover Girl celebrating their 50th anniversary. I saw this commercial and thought that it was hilarious. The fact that Ellen is both older than most of the other Cover Girls and a lesbian shows how they are trying to expand their target audience. They are going for younger girls, such as Taylor Swift, and older ones such as Ellen. Cover Girls slogan is easy, breezy, beautiful, Cover Girl. This was shown hysterically though the commercial where Ellen had the wind blowing in her hair (which is incredibly short)! She was also talking about how important outer beauty is. This was very funny because she could care less about outer beauty and rocks pants and sneakers on her show :] I think that she was the perfect choice as the new Cover Girl since they are obviously trying to switch up their image. She is loved by all and not your typical Cover Girl.
