Is it about the coffee or the atmosphere?

In a new advertisement for Dunkin Donuts they slam their competition Starbucks. It turns out that most Americans prefer Dunkin Donuts coffee!! This is something that I would have never guessed, which is exactly why they are advertising it.  A lot of people prefer Starbucks because of the atmosphere that they provide. This ad is so successful because it addresses that concern as well. It comes down to whether or not you want to pay more money for a coffee that does not taste as well just so you can hear some nice music while ordering. Sounds kind of stupid when you put it like that right? That is precisely the genius of this advertisement. This is a perfect of example of negative advertising that is done successfully.
